Former Wallabies captain Michael Hooper is poised to finally make his debut for Australia in Sevens during the Hong Kong leg of the circuit in early April. Left out of the Wallabies' Rugby World Cup squad by Eddie Jones, Hooper made the decision to transition to Sevens with hopes of competing in the Olympic Games this year. The 125-Test Wallaby was originally scheduled to debut in Perth at the start of the year, but coach John Manenti felt he needed more time to adjust. Hooper's debut in Hong Kong is expected to be a valuable learning experience.
France's Antoine Dupont, who led his team to victory in Los Angeles, has also successfully made the switch to Sevens for the Olympics. Hooper is eager to make a similar impact for Australia, especially as they face Fiji in their pool in Hong Kong.
