Louis Rees-Zammit, a former Gloucester and Wales winger, is considering a move to the Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, who are now in the running to sign him. Before the 2024 Six Nations, Rees-Zammit announced his decision to step away from rugby and pursue his dream of playing in the NFL by joining the International Player Pathway (IPP) program. The 23-year-old recently participated in an International Pathways Players Pro Day where, despite feeling dissatisfied with his performance, he managed to catch the attention of NFL scouts.
Following visits to the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns last week, Rees-Zammit is set to visit the Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos this week. Renowned NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Rees-Zammit will be making appearances with both franchises, highlighting his potential move to the NFL. The Chiefs, aiming for a historic third consecutive Super Bowl title, could benefit from adding the speedy Welshman to their lineup, as he has played 31 Test matches for Wales and is looking to contribute as a running back, wide receiver, or returner.
Despite clocking an impressive 4.44 seconds in the 40-yard sprint, Rees-Zammit expressed disappointment in his performance, suggesting that he had achieved even faster times during previous training sessions. Nevertheless, he remains confident in his abilities and optimistic about his future in the NFL.
