Philip Snyman has officially been appointed as the interim head coach of the Blitzboks, taking over from Sandile Ngcobo. Ngcobo himself recommended the change after a series of disappointing results forced a review of the team's structure. Ngcobo will now return to the sevens academy, while Snyman, who has been with the South Africa Sevens as an assistant, will lead the team until the end of July. The team's poor performance, with only one win in Dubai, puts their core status in jeopardy. Snyman has a crucial task ahead as he aims to revive the team's fortunes, starting with the Hong Kong SVNS in April.
