Following video referee Stuart Terheege's decision to ignore foul play instigated by commentator Austin Healey, Marler questioned the integrity of the match officials. The Professional Game Match Officials Team (PGMOT) defended their actions in a statement, clarifying the sequence of events and emphasizing player welfare as a top priority. Marler, despite benefiting from the decision, criticized the situation as "ridiculous" on social media.

The incident, however, did not affect the outcome of the match, with Saracens securing a resounding 52-7 victory over Harlequins.
