GKIDS and TOHO announced that The Boy and the Heron will premiere in English in North America and Japan later in March 2024. North American theaters will screen the film starting on Mar. 22, while the English dub will be shown in Japanese theaters on Mar. 20. The movie, directed by Hayao Miyazaki, has been a commercial and critical success, winning the Best Animated Feature Film award at the 96th Academy Awards. This is Miyazaki's second film to win this award, with the first being Spirited Away in 2003.

Additionally, The Boy and the Heron has received numerous other accolades, including awards from the Japan Academy Film Prizes, Golden Globes, and Annie Awards. The film is also available for streaming on HBO Max.
